Experiential learning—learning by
doing—amplifies student understanding and enriches the study of law. In the
field of immigration law, law schools can address unmet legal needs while also
helping students better understand legal doctrine, hone their legal skills, and
develop their professional identity. Often, law schools provide these
experiences through traditional immigration clinics, but law schools can
leverage pro bono opportunities in a variety of ways to enrich their students’
education. Panelists will discuss their experiences identifying appropriate pro
bono opportunities, structuring experiential learning within the constraints of
a traditional legal education, and meeting client’s needs while maximizing
student learning.
Business Meeting will be held at program conclusion.
