In the mass incarceration era, criminal justice is a central focus of civil rights concerns, but the law school curriculum often does not accord sustained attention to post-conviction civil rights. This panel will explore how this gap might be filled. The panel is inspired by the release of a new casebook, Incarceration and the Law, by Margo Schlanger, Sheila Bedi, and David Shapiro, and an associated open-access website, http://incarcerationlaw.com. The conversation will cover other opportunities and challenges in this area.
