The panel will examine the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Biden v. Texas upholding the termination of protocols requiring asylum seekers to stay in Mexico while awaiting their immigration hearing. The decision highlights the intensifying struggle between the federal government and states over U.S. immigration policy and the protection of migrants. It will also examine expulsions at the border to prevent the spread of COVID-19, attempts by state governors to transport migrants to sanctuary states, and the pending Supreme Court case of United States v. Texas, where states are challenging the prioritization of certain unauthorized immigrants for arrest and deportation.
