Looking to create a sustainable model for collaboration across clinics? We will discuss how we turned loosely cooperative veterans law clinics across the country into a non-profit that advocates for veterans nationwide. We hope this interactive session will develop ideas about growing your work across clinics and utilizing collective action to benefit your clients and students. In 2016, several law clinic directors created the National Law School Veterans Clinic Consortium to elevate advocacy on behalf of veterans. In a multi-step process, we established 501(c)(3) status and accreditation as a recognized VSO with the VA. We also created a website for the public and our members. Through the NLVSCC, we have created a community of active, ongoing collaboration. We work on national advocacy projects, confer about legal and procedural questions, host biennial conferences, provide resources, highlight member news, and assist new and existing clinics to start or expand.
