The events of January 6, 2021 at the United States Capitol underlined a serious risk that future presidential American election results could be undermined through violence or other means of subverting election results. Unclear law, unnecessary discretion in the hands of officials, and increasing mistrust of the integrity of American election administration driven in part by social media-fueled disinformation have created the conditions for constitutional crisis and potential stolen elections. This panel brings U.S. Representative Jamin Raskin in conversation with leading scholars considering the risks of election subversion and the best means of countering those risks before the 2024 elections.
