Panelists will discuss whether 303 compliance requires criticality and, if so, what does criticality require? What is an uncritical approach to educating law students on racism, bias, and cross-cultural competency? Panelists will urge that (and suggest resources on how) students gain structural competence in understanding the interconnectedness and identity-based functions of systems that include law. A non-robust, non-critical approach to teaching racism and bias, in contrast, may focus on a mere statement of the problem without supplying any framework or guidance for how lawyers can fight back and help rather than hinder groups engaged in struggle toward lived material justice.
