Directors and Associate Deans found themselves pulled in many directions in the last year. We had a long list of things to worry about: establishing Covid-19 protocols for clinic work and client meetings, getting the mail during university shutdowns, concern for our staff and their well-being, concerns for our students and their well-being, requirements to attend some courts in person, requirements to hold some classes in person, having students, staff or faculty out sick with Covid, and our own personal challenges with managing work and family obligations. Many of us experienced a heightened sense of responsibility to our colleagues, students, clients, and communities. Both the physical and mental demands of our jobs became more challenging.

In what ways can we integrate self-care in order to be better leaders, and to model and encourage self-care by others? More generally, how can we structure these clinical leadership roles so that they are attractive and sustainable? And what are best practices for sustainability and leadership transitions within clinical programs?
