This concurrent session and discussion group will explore current challenges in the design, staffing, administration, and coordination of live-client clinics in response to the pandemic. This plenary session will address how the disparate impact of the pandemic on clients and communities and violence against BIPOC has affected our teaching and our leadership. Clients served by clinics suffered extraordinary challenges due to the pandemic and its impact on their employment, health, education, disability, and access to legal help. The impacts of the pandemic and racial reckoning in the United States will affect our clients and communities for generations to come. The session will explore how we as teachers and directors connected what was happening outside the classroom and the role directors played (or could play in the future) to address the impacts of the pandemic, what issues we expect to face as directors, lawyers, teachers, supervisors, and actors in the justice system.
