Change is coming! At least six states are considering proposals giving law school graduates the option to be licensed by participating in supervised practice in or after law school, skipping the traditional bar exam. Some proposals may be implemented as early as spring 2024. Panelists will describe the proposals being considered and suggest how moving away from the bar exam could increase diversity and inclusion and affect law school admissions, curriculum, clinical education, and employment opportunities for graduates. Attendees will join panelists to brainstorm how legal education may change if some graduates can obtain licenses without taking the bar exam.
