Law schools place a premium on status, and the legal academy tends to assess status by ranking. Whether it's the ranking of law schools, students, or faculty, the legal academy celebrates and rewards higher status, but some status distinctions aren't necessarily visible. The visible and invisible status lines and distinctions based on status made and perpetuated in the legal academy contribute to a lack of equality. The legal academy and the future lawyers being educated in it suffer when its faculty are not equal members. This program will explore visible and invisible status-based distinctions and ponder solutions to improve equality.
