Ahoy!  Maritime law is often viewed as a specialized field of no interest to terrestrial lawyers, but it can also be seen as a type of comparative law in which foundational subjects take on a different form because of the peculiar risks posed by commerce on the sea.  The panelists will use this comparative approach and examine some distinctions between maritime and common law with respect to contracts, torts, and salvage (rewards for rescues) to spark an interdisciplinary conversation.
