New law professors must balance many competing interests. The panelists will explore the tensions in five of the areas that new law professors encounter: (1) teaching, scholarship, and service—there is only so much time in a day; (2) student evaluations—using them to learn and improving without overreacting, (3) “tough” love—giving students constructive feedback without turning them off, (4) teaching techniques—choosing which to use and which to avoid; and (5) personal viewpoints—incorporating personal viewpoints in teaching and scholarship, or not. Program attendees will be able to ask the panelists questions.
