What does qualitative, empirical, and interdisciplinary legal scholarship look like today? Law and economics has been the "lingua franca" of the legal academy and has shaped many legal scholars' opinions of what it means to do interdisciplinary scholarship. Qualitative approaches that draw on methodological and theoretical insights from anthropology, sociology, and oral history, however, have always been part of the landscape of legal scholarship. Additionally, the legal academy is simultaneously embracing social science norms of publication and moving towards a relatively narrow quantification of scholarly success. In this context, what does it mean to rigorously pursue qualitative interdisciplinary legal scholarship?
