The popularity of the FX miniseries The People v. OJ Simpson,
the Serial podcast, and the Netflix docuseries Making a Murderer, are
just a few examples of a growing recent trend that places law at the center of
popular culture. This panel will explore the phenomenon and provide insights
into how law school communications professionals and faculty members can
leverage the rise of law in film, TV, radio, podcasts and other media. Featured
panelists will include Dean Strang, defense attorney for Steven Avery in the
Netflix documentary series Making a Murderer, and Stanford/UCLA law
professor Michael Asimow, author of Law and Popular Culture: A
Coursebook.
