This session will include a discussion of what we can do in our law schools to welcome and foster debate and discussion on controversial and important issues while navigating such things as university policies, strong opposing viewpoints from inside and outside of the law school, and determining what are “appropriate” administrative controls. The discussion will also consider doing these things in a way that supports rather than detracts from the law school’s educational mission and promotes formation of students’ professional identities.
