This panel will explore the various ways in which trauma impacts the classroom. The panelists will discuss the definition of trauma and how it differs from stressors and other difficult experiences. They will then address the range of ways in which trauma presents in the classroom: students bring their own trauma histories to the classroom; there can be trauma at a social and community level; and students are being trained to meet client needs from a trauma-informed perspective and to avoid vicarious trauma as they enter practice. This will be a discussion-based panel and likely will address classroom hypotheticals.
