The initial goal for this presentation was part of an ongoing project to capture the impact of legal clinical education by imagining a world without clinics - then 2020 happened. In the spirit of the initial proposal, we hope to highlight the ways clinical law professors have shifted practices to adjust to the myriad challenges of 2020. To do so, we will report out the results of a survey that aimed to capture such innovations and initiatives. By way of example, we will highlight how clinics have harnessed technology in 2020, discussing transactional clinics using zoom to increase student-client interaction and reach far-flung clients, immigration clinics conducting massive events to take advantage of pro bono attorneys across the country, and criminal clinics using zoom to elicit real-time reflections from students as they observe court. We will also discuss how clinical educations anticipated client and community needs by addressing the eviction epidemic in creative ways, taking on compassionate release cases, and working on voting rights.
