This panel will provide an opportunity to discuss and comment on potential amendments to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23. A subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules is analyzing several preliminary proposals that would alter how class actions are certified, managed, and resolved. The program will consist of a presentation by the subcommittee, comments from panelists, and comments from audience members. We plan to have a wide-ranging discussion of items on the subcommittee’s current agenda as well as additional suggestions for the subcommittee to consider. The subcommittee’s most recent report will be distributed through the Section on Civil Procedure’s listserv and will be available from http://www.uscourts.gov/rules-policies/records-and-archives-rules-committees.
