Being classified as “other” in the classroom, law school or university can lead to feelings of isolation. Alienation along vectors of social identity may manifest itself not only within the classroom but also in interactions with colleagues and unacknowledged additional service obligations faculty of color often experience. In this interactive session, panelists discuss managing one’s position as an “insider-outsider” and propose strategies for thriving as a professor despite the existence of pervasive structural inequalities.
